returning from the dentist’s office after her third successive attempt to have a
tooth extracted. Each time she had just lost her
nerve after being

برگشتن از مطب دندانپزشک بود. او هر بار که بر روی صندلی دندانپزشک نشسته بود به
علت از دست دادن روحیه اش از کشیدن دندانش منصرف شده و به خانه برگشته بود. بعد از این که زن برای چهارمین بار از
دندانپزشک وقت گرفت، دندانپزشک به دستیار خود گفت: «وقتی که او روی صندلی نشست و
من انبر خود را روی دندانش گذاشتم، و با نگاه زیرچشمی به تو علامت دادم، یک
زیرپوستی به کفل او تزریق کن.» کار همان طور که برنامه ریزی شده بود انجام
شد، تزریق صورت گرفت و دندان کشیده شد. دندانپزشک به بیمار گفت: «حالا خیلی هم سخت
نبود. همین طور است؟» و زن با این پاسخ خود او را متعجب ساخت: «نه، ولی من هرگز
